The Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP) at the Department of Labor is working with the Department of Education and other federal partners on the 2nd National Leadership Summit on Improving Transition Outcomes for Youth with Disabilities hosted by the National Center on Education and Secondary Transition. The first summit was held in September, 2003 and allowed state teams to build strategic plans for serving youth with disabilities. The next Summit will be held on June 14 and 15, 2005 in Washington DC to continue planning efforts. For more information about the Summit go to http://www.ncset.org/summit05/index.htm
ODEP is currently looking to identify 6-8 youth ages (16-25), who can participate on a panel and discuss there experiences related to transition. This is a great opportunity for youth participants to develop leadership skills. Travel will be provided.
