SBAA is getting ready to start work on the new KidZone newsletter. KidZone will be created for kids ages 8 to 13. We need a few volunteers to serve on an Advisory Committee to help us develop content for this new newsletter.
KidZone Overview:
KidZone will offer young children confronted with the challenges of spina bifida their very own fun, interactive newsletter full of word games, math teasers and crossword puzzles. All the content will help kids to learn more about their condition with up-to-date medical/health management tips and advice. KidZone will be packaged as an insert to SBAA’s newsletter, Insights into Spina Bifida, and online at www.sbaa.org. KidsZone is possible thanks to a grant from American Legion Child Welfare Foundation.
Advisory Committee Commitment:
Members of the Advisory Committee will be professionals, adults who have spina bifida and parents. SBAA will be hiring a writer who specializes in communications with children to develop the content for KidsZone. The Advisory Committee’s role will be to advise the writer on key topics and issues that should be addressed in KidsZone. This will be done through email and will require minimal time commitment. The writer will create tailored content appropriate for children ages 8 to 13 who are living with spina bifida. The Advisory Committee will be called upon to:
1. make content suggestions (like dealing with the daily challenges of going to school to explaining what spina bifida is to others) and
2. “test” the content the writer develops to be sure it is on target by either:
-getting feedback from a child in our target age range, or
-reviewing it based upon your experiences with this age group.
