Dave Harber of Gloucestershire, England (an individual with spina bifida) was outraged when he witnessed a police car parked in a disabled parking spot. Mr. Harber, always the advocate, complained to the police officer who promptly apologized. According to the officer, she had not intended to park in the spot but was confused by the poor quality of the painted designation. The officer has pledged to help Mr. Harber petition the town council to “spruce up” the parking spots and make it clearer that they are reserved for motorists with disabilities.
"I've had dozens of people come up to me to commend me about exposing the situation.
"What they need to do is what they said they would do three years ago when I attended a meeting where it was promised that all the disabled bays would be clearly marked."
As Dave’s story proves, it is very easy to make a difference.
